Five things I learnt from Athletico Madrid Vs Real Madrid (UCL SEMI FINALS)
"the first level of preparation is not grit or determination, but a peaceful mental posture that comes from being patient" Olakunle Soriyan.
1. Athletico were already winning with two goals but needed just one more for a draw. Instead of them to calm down, be patient, since the had more time, but No; they kept acting like "MMM" trying to produce quick results. Their initial success produced so much dissatisfaction in them for more goals leading to a final loss.
2. Although Real Madrid were faced with a shocking two goals down, it never affected their performance neither were they under duress. They didn't fret neither did the lose their coordination. They maintained a calm disposition, focused on the game and never lost control. Successful people don't allow a particular failure to ruin their future or long term goal. The always maintain their persona, while changing strategy. Just like Ronaldo said "we knew one goal will kill them" Wisdom is better than strength. Strategy and knowledge are vital to success.
3 Your mentor or coach influences your behavior. Athletico's coach was restless, frustrated and kept shouting on the players to perform. The players on the other hand started acting with same frustration and restlessness. While Zidane, who is the coach of Madrid, maintained his cool though he was losing: and kept instructing his players in a calm manner. I can imagine him saying "be still and know, we are going to make the finals" Just like words from the Bible "fear not, the Egyptians you see today, you shall see them no more"
4.If people tag you as a failure, you can always change that notion. Benzema has always been seen as a waste but he broke through a defence carefully maintaining possession of the ball with his left and right leg against three players along the touch line. This created a winning goal for Madrid
5. There are some battles you can't fight just avoid them.
Also, there are some life situations you can't explain. Athletico are always close to winning Madrid but always failing. For the past four years, they've always been knocked out by Madrid. The most painful part; they've never won the Champions League. I hope the win one day but the should try to avoid Madrid if they can make that happen. Its really a painful experience.
May you never be a victim of continuous near success. 😊😊😊
See you in Cardiff! #HalaMadrid
