Trusting God for your needs? My leather jacket gift.
Recently, I have always wanted to have a leather jacket because I loved the way it looked on others. I thought, it will also look good on me but I had a little challenge – cost. The minimum cost of an original leather jacket is about $110 ( Naira 30-40k in Nigeria) and I didn’t have such amount of money to spare.
I trusted God to provide one for me, after all, He said he will grant our heart desires. Looking good is not carnal neither was I seeking to oppress anybody. I later forgot about it and moved on with my life.

On a particular day, I got a call from my friend in the UK notifying me of his planned visit to Nigeria. We haven’t seen for three years and I was excited about his coming. While we were talking on phone, he asked “what should I get for you?” I replied “anything” he insisted with his question but I still maintained my stand. We ended our conversation with excitement, expecting to see each other soon.
Two weeks later, after my morning devotion, I heard a voice in my spirit saying “I thought you wanted a leather jacket” and I said “yes” the voice now said “why didn’t you ask your friend to get one for you? Now send him a message that you need one” I struggled with this for a while because I don’t like to be a burden to anyone. Nevertheless, I obeyed. So here was our exact conversation with my friend via WhatsApp:
Me: I just thought of something I will want you to get for me but I am thinking it might be expensive…
Friend: Like?
Me: Leather jacket… If it is expensive, just work with what you have in mind
Friend: Leather jacket?!
Ah ok
Erm what type?
Any design in mind?
Me: Yeah… Just a simple black colour
I will just run crazy
Friend: Ok what’s your size?
Me: I don’t know my size oh. But just picture me as before

To cut the story short…
Friend: Sends a link to an online store (topman.com) Can you go to this website. I normally shop there and get student discount. It has other jackets. Check which one you like. Send me the link when you’re done
Me : Okay. I will now. ( I selected the cheapest which was $110 and sent it back)
Friend :Ok I’ll get you the jacket
Me: I am so excited right now thanks so much
Friend : No problem.. Lol.
God told Elijah in 1Kings 17:3-4

If Elijah had not obeyed God’s instructions and if I had not either, I would not have received my blessing. Most times, God is eager to bless us but he does that by giving us instructions to follow which may be something we don’t want to do. It may be an instruction to call someone you don’t talk to, help someone e.t.c just obey.
God loves his children and wants to bless us with good gifts.
Matthew 7:11 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him! Amplified
